Discrete Audio Products for Audio Production and Live Recording

The TONELUX Universal Console

Includes up to 16 channels, room for Eqs, Mic Pres, Control Room Section, Returns, Masters, and the new Tonelux Motorized Fader System that uses your DAW's automation to run them, but with the audio going through them into the Tonelux modules!!!

At the NAMM Show, 2006 in California, Geoff Daking introduced the first of many Tonelux Authorized Modules.  He has started a new division called DAKING PLUS, and showed his new EQ, which uses a single knob control with LEDs showing the status of all 4 bands.  People liked it and were happy that Tonelux was including other companies in it's already strong product line.

The design of the Tonelux product line was geared towards the “new studio model”, where so much more of the production work is being done in the Work Station, and the requirement for a large frame console is not as necessary as it has been in the past. With  a new wave of engineers and producers taking the helm, the standard studio layout doesn't seem applicable any more.  To me, it's like 1965 all over again, where engineers and studio owners had many different ideas about how the "console" should be designed.  Most of the time, directly applying what we have used in the past does not work as effectively as it used to.  The whole Tonelux concept is based around a universal rack system that can accommodate any combination of modules, allowing each system to be unique and specific to the owner.  It also allows the owner to change everything around at will if a different approach works better at a later date....

Tonelux provides a system that can do tracking, mixing, overdubs and most other production work with the broad line of modular products it manufactures. We have taken many of the oversimplified external systems and included many of the large format console features into a very high quality, affordable system of modules that can be combined or used individually. We have used both discrete and IC based amplifiers in the positions that they each work the best in. With two new discrete opamps, the Tonelux line will sound as sweet as possible.

The starting point is the flexible Tonelux multi-function powered rack. With one single rack model, you can intermix any of the modules in any quantity because the configuration of the rack is universal for all modules. With Paul Wolff's extensive experience with console designs, beginning with his many years spent customizing live sound consoles, studio consoles and working in both environments, through his ownership and building nearly 35 custom consoles, through his final design of the first discrete surround console, before embarking on his new venture, Tonelux.

"I started to see a change in the industry, and saw a need for a system that enhanced the way engineers, producers and musicians recorded their music.  The DAW is here to stay, which many people and companies still regard as the 'studio killer'.  Like any new invention, the DAW has changed the face of recording for ever, and with change, comes new opportunities, not always seen at first."  It's like either being on the train or being on the tracks...
