The Tonelux ShadowMix® Automation package uses the DAW for the
automation. Includes local mute and solo in place.
It
can be controlled from AVID’s Media Composer, Film Composer and Xpress,
Digidesign’s Pro Tools, and most computer based MIDI software including
programs from Cakewalk, Emagic, Mark of the Unicorn, Steinberg and
others.
One IMPORTANT point, the ShadowMix system has the audio in the fader,
as well as the mute and solo functions. It requires one of the
above DAW systems, and the DAW must be able to send audio out PRE
FADER, as the ShadowMix system controls the audio "just like the old
days".
The fader tracks within .5dB from +12 on the fader to about -12, then
starts to move away from the DAW screen, as it begins to double the
resolution of the control data. This gives you more resolution
below -12dB for mixing. From +12 to -12, it's great for tracks
that have the audio mix in progress in that range, as they will
translate pretty well. Of course, once it is in the analog
domain, any mix that has been worked on only in the DAW will most
likely require changes in the mix, so the importance of exact dB
translation was traded for more resolution.
